Dear Friends and Family,

Our wonderful Asian adventure is about to begin! Last week, we said goodbye to
San Francisco, after nine exhilarating years. We will miss all of our friends, who have
sustained us through heartbreak and shared every joy with us. We will miss witnessing
nature's magnificence there: the fog rolling over the Marin headlands; the Bay sparkling,
winking at the heavens in all its indigo glory; the whispering Redwoods that seem to hold
all secrets and murmur comfort to the souls who pass through them. We will miss the open
hearts and arms that embrace every person, animal, and plant, regardless of shape or size
or belief or orientation or politic.

Ahead of us is a great unknown, an adventure waiting to unfold. First, we find a beach
bungalow in southern Thailand. We'll then make our way up to the Chiang Mai region in
northern Thailand for trekking and visits with elephants.

We may then duck into Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma) or head over to Laos on our way
to Vietnam. We'll explore the length of Vietnam by train, and can't wait to see the sun rise
over the limestone pillars in Halong Bay. We wouldn't miss the amazing temple complex of
Angkor Wat, so after Vietnam we'll meander into Cambodia. We've sketched our plans
lightly, knowing that whatwe discover each day will guide us onto our next destination.

We plan to chronicle our experiences with words and pictures, which we hope to share
with you all. Stay tuned to this site for pictures and stories, updated as often as we can. We
will have a computer with us--the thinnest, smallest of laptops (to avoid the vein popping strain
Tomas experienced while lugging his first-generation Powerbook on the Inca Trail), and we
also plan to stay in touch with you through email. Please update your address books with
our current email addresses;
